Robotic Integration In Time of COVID

Robotic integration companies are busier than ever.

The COVID-19 has accelerated automation adoption and the robot industry push towards sectors beyond the automotive industry. Technological advances, such as sensing, smart factories, and AI are lowering the barriers and will drive the further deployment of robotics solutions, making robotics a solution for manufacturers. Thus, what the robotic statistics are showing? Let's consider some of them.

Robotic's Statistics

In 2020 industrial robot sales were up 7.5% compared to 2019.  According to BARA, Robotic sales increase despite the pandemic, the report shows that 1,931 robots were sold in 2020 compared to 1,797 robots sold in 2019.

Record 2.7 Million Robots Work in Factories Around the Globe

Frankfurt, Sep 24, 2020 — The new World Robotics 2020 Industrial Robots report shows a record of 2.7 million industrial robots operating in factories around the world – an increase of 12%.

Manufacturing Wales have claimed that Covid has accelerated the introduction of automation in industry. They have said that its members and other businesses were adopting robotics two or three years faster than expected. The Unite union said new technology should not replace workers' jobs. At Phoenix Robotic, we keep updated with new trends or technologies and we adapt to customer's needs. Likewise, we provide robotic packages according to specific requirements.

Robotics Despide Pandemic

The heightened interest in industrial robots have been seen by robot vendors and systems integrators alike, according to BARA. Despite the UK’s current economic position due to Covid-19, the automation industry is expecting the trend to accelerate as UK manufacturing responds to the challenges of Brexit and the health pandemic.

New Robotic Trend for Manufacturing

Manufacturing is adopting a new model to do business and mobile robots are taking over warehouses because the pandemic is continually threatening companies/government with new variants. Likewise, e-commerce is becoming the new trend for business.

Manufacturers are continually adapting to these changes and even though car manufacturers are taking the lead we clearly see that other sectors are following them. Also, robot suppliers are looking to adapt to the demand for new applications and developing solutions.

Another critical trend for the car industry is reducing energy consumption and optimisation efficiencies in the factory operation process. One way is to work closely with the supply chains and produce according to the demand. Therefore, monitoring production data very close will allow a reduction of the carbon footprint of the production.

Robotic Automation Global Solutions

robotic integration

According to the IFR Federation of Robotics “Globally, COVID-19 has a strong impact on 2020 but also offers a chance for modernization and optimization of production on the way to recovery. In the long run, the benefits of increasing robot installations remain the same. Rapid production and delivery of customized products at competitive prices are the main incentives.”

Therefore, automation enables manufacturers to keep production without sacrificing cost-efficiency.  Consequently,  industrial robots continue to expand from traditional robots with low payload to capable of handling all payloads and fully integrated into production.
